Amazon is the largest search engine anywhere for people who are holding a credit card and are ready to buy. It is actually better than Google.
If you want to claim part of this hundred billion dollar market, then you need to claim part of the search results. You need to put something on Amazon, sell something. You need to find out what product you can sell. Find a cheap product somewhere else and sell it on Amazon for more money.
How can you actually get started?
You go to seller.amazon.com and you register an account. This account is for people who sell products. You should register as an individual. Later on you will need to register as a business as your revenue grows.
You need an American or European bank account to be able to get money from Amazon. If you do not have that, then you need to join a service like world’s first and then you will be able to receive money from Amazon.
Where should you start on Amazon?
If you want to get started I recommend you start in the American website amazon.com. Later on you can upgrade to a country like Spain, Germany, France, Italy. In the beginning let’s start simple in amazon.com.
You want to use existing information on Amazon to determine what to sell. You will have a hard time competing with some products like phones. For example, it is hard to compete with Apple, Samsung or LG by creating your own brand like AlexVitkin phones.
There are smaller niches with less complicated products that you can compete with on the market. For example, if you go on Google and you type Amazon bestsellers you will find the Amazon website, where all the Amazon bestsellers will be listed by category. You need to choose a good category.
These categories can be accessories for phones, but not phones, baby toys etc. Do not go into super complicated products like cameras. Keep it nice and simple. Find a product, which does not have too many reviews. If your competition has many reviews, it will be really tough to compete with them.
How expensive should your product be?
If you enter the market you will see that most product are around $50. That is enough. If you go too expensive, you will probably not have enough money to buy enough stock to sell. If you go too cheap your profit margin will be too low. Try to stay above $20 and below $70.
The next step is to find a supplier. The best place to find a supplier is alibaba.com. There is a reason why this company became so big. Most of them are going to be from China, but there are suppliers from all over the world.
You need to go ahead and email the suppliers through alibaba and ask for samples and look how easy it is to work with them. Are these people reliable? Do they send it on time? And also look at pricing. Make sure you are not overpaying. Make sure there are discounts once you order bigger amounts. Make sure they have enough supply.
The next step is to create your own brand. What they have is just a white label product, blank sheet of paper.
For example, if you are selling usb sticks, it is just a brand list usb stick. However, if you put your own logo there and you use your own brand, suddenly people will recognize that. If you sell enough of that and people are satisfied, they are going to come back and find more.
How do you get a logo and create your own brand?
You can go on Fiverr and pay someone for a logo and also you need to describe your product in the description in Amazon. Make sure you follow basic sales letter strategies. Focus on the benefits of the product.
You need to test the market. You need to make sure that it actually sells. How do you actually get people to buy. You need to keyword target to make sure that the product is found. Go and look at the best selling products and use similar wording and similar keywords, because they have done their research.
